104px-Blues_and_royals_closeup_london_arpSpecial Credit: This report was taken from Keith Rocheford, as Josh was absent from the field, due to his wife's serious but temporary sickness on Sunday. Big Thankyou to Keith, who faithfully held the line for the gospel in Surfers Paradise on Sunday. May God bless Him for his labour, for Christ's name's sake.

Preachers: Keith Rochford / Ryan Hemelaar:

'For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables' 2Tim 4:3-4.

ryan2Today Ryan opened up the preaching and drew a good sized crowd within a few minute's he had some hecklers straight away who were asking "If God made the world, who made God?' this is a classic category mistake question, it is like asking   'what is the smell of blue?' only finite things require a cause, infinite things do not require a first cause, Ryan answered the crowds questions and then delivered a gospel message.

As   I jumped up to preach some of Ryan's previous hecklers returned to ask more question's we covered the validity of the Bible, why christianity   is the right religion among all the man made efforts and then things started getting very interesting, a   Catholic started asking if we need to keep the   Sabbath? Which is a strange question from them as you would expect that from a seventh day adventist, I countered the question by quoting Romans 14:5-10 and Col 2:16 we are not to let others judge us regarding Sabbaths/days of worship, he got very angry and said I am quoting the Bible out of context as Paul was only speaking to the Jews, I reminded him that Paul was the Apostle to the Gentiles and he left. This gave a great opportunity to preach on the false gospel of the Catholic church i.e Justification by work's infused grace, treasury of merit and idol worship and allowed me to close with the true gospel. Any other gospel preached is 'Anathema' (accursed, eternally condemned) Gal 1:8-9

Ryan jumped up for his second bout of preaching and after about 45mins he wrapped up and had to leave as he was speaking at Church , this left Nato and myself, Nato continued on tracting duty and I stepped up to preach again, things really started to happen here, I instantly had a few excellent hecklers one claiming to be a Physicist another a relativist   and finally a new ager, I debated and undermined the theory of evolution based on its own claim as a theory and as agreed by the Physicist Phil its lack of evidence biologically and in the fossil record I then quoted a few world renowned evolutionary scientists that agree they have no evidence but except evolution on faith.

The relativist Craig was one of the best hecklers I have ever had, he was calm, asked great questions and most importantly was willing to listen to reasonable plausible and logical argument's by the end of our discussion he agreed there is right and wrong and that absolutes exist, more importantly his whole attitude changed when the Law and grace were preached, he became quite emotional, please pray for Craig as he has been through some difficult times recently and really needs God to grant repentance and faith.

My new age heckler Troy was quite amusing, when asked if he had ever lied? He said 'yes', but would not admit that made him a liar, he was very happy for anyone else to be labeled one though, I just kept thinking of what the Bible tells us in Proverbs 'all the ways of a man are pure in his own eye's but the Lord weighs the spirits' Prov 16:2 We can kid others and ourselves about what is right and wrong, but our God given conscience will not tell us what we want to hear, it bears witness to the Truth of God's Law.

After around 1 hour of preaching I wrapped up with a gospel message and covered freedom from slavery to Sin through Christ, there was a large crowd present to hear all that was preached so please pray for everyone present.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Kyosti (hilarious friend!)

The REPORT:

Tears were falling..

Creation of Adam Your preaching your heart out, but people aren't stopping. Then you notice to the side, a middle-aged women quietly wiping tears away from her eyes. Time stops. We often have no idea what it is God till we get to heaven and He shows us. Preach the word, be faithful.

Sin was calling its servants to obedience..

Two young teenage ladies held each other pationately, and embraced with thier lips.. an attempt to discourage the preachers from thier listeners and the message of Christ: Repent and Believe.

Tutankhamun made an appearance:

While Ryan preached a young man of 24 perhaps, argued that Tutankhamun had revealed truth to him, and attempted to explain some ridiculous and contradictory reason for why we were alive.. stranger things happen when you preach the gospel. This was probably an attempt to distract the preachers from preaching the truth, and get them into a useless discussion over an irrelavent peice of information with no eternal value.

Copies of the written word of God were requested..

Weekly copies of the scriptures are placed into the hands of those who are keen to read its words, and understand its message. This is a free service I offer at personal expense, and by the generous contributions of those who support my personal ministry. None of which I could do of course, without the Independant Baptist Press who subsidise, import and print the resources I use as an Indendant Baptist Missionary to Australia. All this is accomplished by the manifold and diverse grace of God. God's word is relavent today, and is still powerful, able to break the hard hearted rock in pieces.

Ash returns, but completely under the influence of alcohol..

Ash a common participant in dialogue with the Open Air preachers was back today. Sadly he was drunk. Nathan spent some valueable time labouring with him this week.. this is our job. Preaching the gospel in season and out of season... are you?

Man stands at traffic lights, talking to Victor Barwick, while the lights went green ten times..

Victor, or Snow as his friends affectionately call him, was handing out gospel tracts. Then a tattoed man came along, and was about to cross the road, when Snow offered him a gospel tract. A million dollar note.. the lights changed ten times, before the man crossed the road. He listened intently and asked question's as Snow presented the gospel of Christ to him. God only knows the end of this man, and we plead for his salvation.

Lesbians talk to Preacher:

quest They asked was homosexuality wrong. To which I posed them the question, how do we know what is wrong. They had no answer. I explained that all the in's and outs I could about the athiest's morality, and then showing it flawed with no basis for judgement. Then I moved to show that God was the definer of right and wrong. Then I showed them the scriptures regarding homosexuality. God has made his opinion clear in scripture. I urged them to repent towards God.

There is a theme here..

As I contemplated the lack of people who stayed to listen on Sunday, as opposed as to the large crowds we have seen of late, a thought began to enter my mind and then stayed there for a long time.

I could literally list off a long long record of events that occured on Sunday. In every single one of them, you would notice that Christ Jesus by His Spirit was labouring in the Gold Coast for the glory of God.

120px-ESM_St_Cyr_cadets_DSC03272So often, we get caught up in the unbiblical trap of pragmatism. How strong are we, how many troops do we have, how many people are turning up in the crowds.. and we make the mistake of King David. We count ourselves, to see how strong God is. What fools we are.

God is stronger than all the strength you could percieve with your fleshly eye.. He is greater than ten thousand armies, boasting of millions of soldiers in each. He is more powerful than ten billion solar suns. He is more glorious than all the beauty of the Universe. He is the King who made all things, for the glory of Himself.

Further more, I considered that we could have three hundred men stand and hear us preach.. but I find its better to see one man repent.

For we find the scriptures record that all the angels in heaven rejoice when one repents.. and we find that all the christians rejoice when we get a big crowd. Did you notice something quite markedly different here?

We are rejoicing about the wrong thing.

How many of us get excited, buzzing to celebrate about one person who came to repentance? How wonderful is it to us? Of course we like to see it.. but don't most of us get really really excited about the wrong thing.

When large crowds stop to listen, it can easily be us, a thrill beyond words, and yet the Spirit of God, is grieved. Why? Because we have made the work about us, and not about Him.

The theme of Evangelism, is Christ. The theme of scripture is Christ. The theme of your life, must be Christ or it shall be lost from the sight of the saints, one day, into the fire of His eternal wrath at wickedness.

Jesus Christ is the one who was working today, and if he chose to use Josh Mitchell the worm, or any of the brethren in Christ on the Gold Coast.. he did so for His glory.. and we are grateful to be expended for His name.

Lord Jesus, the Gold Coast is yours, what shall you do with it? Turn our eyes upon thee, and help us to obey your all commandments.

Thank You List:

imagesCA4W6O0I I want to express my heartfelt thankfulness to those who come out weekly to labour and be made fun of for Christ's sake. I am encouraged every week by the presence of those who faithfully take the word of God to the streets, for the glory of God. God bless you friends.

I also want to thank those who silently, and visibly support the ministry of myself and the Gold Coast Team. Also to those in leadership with me, and web team and so on who labour in the dark hours of the night to get the work done that is so needful. May God bless your sincere efforts for His glory, in the way that pleases Him most.

Also thankyou to the Police Officers who keep the Surfers Paradise region free from criminals, and keep citizens free to do what we enjoy most.. publicly enjoy the moral freedoms we have been given at the hand of God.

Also a thankyou to the cleaners of the Gold Coast. You guy are also an encouragement and an example to me. You do a difficult job, and often at the end of mean people's jokes. Thank you for your work, we appreciate the unsatisfying work you do in attempting to keep clean the Surfers Paradise area, despite the public leaving rubbish everywhere. Thankyou :)

An Invitation:

If you would like to take part in the work of evangelism on the Gold Coast, und er the authority of Josh Mitchell, then contact me when you are able. We are careful to make sure trained Christians come out with us, so that we may comfortably give account to the authorities and local churches, that the gospel preached and the attitude by which it is preached is good and godly. To do this, Josh likes to meet with people for coffee, and then suggest a training day, or listening audio's to bring you up to grade, so that you are a workman who needs not to be ashamed. Reader, if you are a Christian, and therefore Love and Obey the Lord, please listen to my request.
Please pray for a young man named Ash.

Ash is a young man
He has been returning back to the Open Air preaching site over and over again, during the last 14-15 months that I have been preaching at Surfers Paradise. His heart seems to be hardened against the gospel, and his soul seems to be filled with bitterness and hate towards other human beings. I don't want to say too much about him, so that I don't embarrass him, but please take me at my word, that this young man needs a lot of prayer. Please pray for his salvation.

Young Ladies need prayer
The young ladies of Australia, seem to be consumed with sexuality, dressing perversely for the lustful eye, and seeking the affection of those around them, while spurning the audience of those, that they take no pleasure in. Please pray for the young ladies of Australia. I met with a young lady in the Open Air Preaching, and she was very frustrated by the law of God. When the law enters, people get upset. Please pray for this young lady and her friends, who laughed off the presentation of the gospel.

QUOTE: "It is our duty to pray for all who trouble us; to desire the salvation of all men." [John Calvin]

God in my perception, was doing something special this Sunday
There has been a lot of hard ground being broken up, by preaching week after week in Surfers Paradise, and today we saw the softening of many peoples hearts. A lot of people seemed to be really open to the gospel of Christ, and its defense as the only logical world view that lines up with reality. Please continue to pray for the people passing through Surfers Paradise on Sunday afternoon. It is exciting to watch God's Spirit move obviously to us, during the evangelism efforts of His people. Often I suspect we do not know of His work, and it is precious to observe Him working when he lets us perceive the work he is doing in people's hearts.

An Unfortunate Scene
Unfortunately, while preaching to a small gathering, a man of about 28  removed his shorts and  mooned me for about  10 seconds. He seemed to have no shame doing this in front of little children, which was a real pity. I cautioned him, that his actions were criminal, and that the police could arrest him for indecent exposure in front of children. Please pray that these sorts of incidents would be prevented by God, for at least the children's sake.

A Little Child
There was a young girl of about four or five, who wandered around taking bibles and disappearing. I have no idea what she was doing, but I suspect she might have been binning them, since I found one bible on the ground later with a page ripped out. This is disrespectful, but not uncommon amongst people, who are intolerant of others, and seem only to respond immaturely by bring force to bear to silence a person they disagree with, or destroy property to express their annoyance. The little children learn quickly, and find it fun to copy-cat.

Workers for Christ's Glory
Ryan Hemelaar, and Keith Rochford, both preached today; and Nate tracted the area.

It is good to see men, who are faithful to evangelism under authority, and will do their utmost for the glory of God in a team environment. Please pray for us, that we might have humility of heart, and opportunity to present the gospel and defend it freely at Surfers Paradise. Please pray that God will bind us together in love, that we might be known as true disciples of Christ Jesus.

If I may offer a final prayer request, please pray that we might be guided by God, to present solid common-sense gospel introductions and presentations, that the people will understand and be willing to listen to. We are men, we fail, we need God's help unquestionably. Without Him, we can do nothing.

Faithfully, for the Salvation of the people who visit and live in Surfers Paradise each Sunday,

For Christ and His Covenant,

For the glory of God,

josh mitchell

Word of thanks: I would like to personally proclaim thankfulness for the police officers of Surfers Paradise, who did a fine job of protecting the public from a man recently released from NSW prison. Unfortunately, I did not catch the officer’s names, but God knows who they are.

Here is a brief overview of events today:

God exalted, in the darkened minds of sinners who realised their great need for Christ.

Foreigner hears gospel for first time, and tears up during preaching.

Keith Rochford successfully exalted the knowledge of God, while debating a strong-willed atheist.

Large crowds gather to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached and defended.

Large numbers of public, enthusiastically shake hands with Christian gospel preacher.

A popular myth: “The Church is the place for Christian’s to preach”

Much Much more, but don’t have time to share it all with you.. J

The Report:

Today was an overcast day, but we risked the weather, trusting in God to provide the weather we needed to preach His gospel. It was windy, it was a little rainy, but despite what might have been deemed by some as “dreary”, people stayed and listened.

This has surprised me a lot lately, because most people seem to be really thirsty to hear the truth and logical reasoning of the Christian faith, even though they are getting wet in the rain. God is working curious things in the hearts of men. It is no surprise really, since the secular world is offering no particularly good answers to the great philosophical questions of life. And people want answers, they are not satisfied.

It is no longer good enough, for them to hear claims such as: “There is no such thing as truth”, or “Millions and millions of years ago, the big bang..”. God appears to be waking people up, from the dreamy and impossible world of Atheistic Evolution, where no one is accountable for their actions.

Please pray that God will give us boldness to proclaim the truth, in humility and meekness of mind, that we might properly exalt the risen Lord Jesus to a lost and dying humanity. We need you praying beloved.

The first lady I had the delightful experience of speaking with Open Air, was a European visitor. She openly believed that she had a good heart, and that she believed it. Over and over again, we looked at her sin, and accountability to God, and then eventually the penny dropped. While approaching the gospel, she began to cover her eyes with sunglasses, and as I had the privilege of sharing the gospel of Christ Jesus with her, she began to wipe her eyes. I pray that God will grant her repentance to the acknowledging of the truth, that she may recover herself from the snare of the devil.

Keith Rochford, our new Surfers Paradise 2IC, was next up preaching. Keith did a fine job revealing the fraudulent claims of the Evolution theory. He instantly had a small gathering of the public that began dialoguing with him. This was the beginning of a large gathering of humanity, who were curious, and asking lots of really good and profound questions. Keith handled himself very well, thanks be to Christ who does in us His will and good pleasure. Many were contented to stay and listen.

Shortly, we were pleasantly engaged by a very vocal Atheist, who did his best to employ almost every common atheistic argument I have heard in my life. Keith handled them well, and showed the nice fellow the failure of Atheism as an intellectual position. That indeed Atheism, exalts itself against even the simplest of reasoning, and is really an attack on God’s very existence. This is always an interesting topic, because people, for some reason or another, seem to think that Atheists are the answer to the Christian message.

I stepped up to preach after Keith gracefully took a variety of questions, and responded to the best of his ability. One of the beautiful things, about having a preaching partner, is you get to catch the questions your partner missed and answer them. We do this for each other all the time.

I have noted over and over again, how a heckler will come in, and try to throw as many difficult questions in, not allowing time for response and then walk off. It makes some listeners, think the heckler was right and the speaker must answer those questions, so that damage is not done to the overall presentation. We of course, don’t mind the extra work, because it leaves a further opportunity to show the validity of the claims of Christianity.

After responding to some Muslims who said all religions are the same, and disproving that statement from the Koran’s own quotes against History. I moved on, to answer the remaining questions of the crowd. It was at this time we had an interesting fellow arrive.

Earlier on in afternoon, while Keith was preaching, I heard a strange hysterical laughter coming from one side of the crowd. It was a large Samoan man. I thought it strange, because there was absolutely no reason for the loud laughter.

This fellow came into the crowd, and began to yell profanity at me, and express his emotions about religions very loudly. I requested that he not swear because of ladies and children that were present. I am often compelled to pity for people, when they do this, because we never know that these people have not suffered from some kind of abuse at a young age, by the hands of people posing as Christian. I have heard many cases of the damage done by hypocrites in the modern church, wolves in sheep’s clothing. While I understand all humanity is in sin, I also know that sinful men have abused others. That abuse has caused deep long-lasting wounds that only Christ can heal, through repentance to God and trust in Jesus for salvation, against God’s wrath at sin.

I paused for a long time, to let this man get his emotion off his chest, but for some reason he kept on pacing and was unreasonable and didn’t want to talk to me. I addressed the crowd with the answer to the question, using greater volume, for their benefit, since the fellow kept on yelling profanity.

It was at this moment that the two members of the Surfers Paradise Police entered and one distracted the drunken Samoan, and one asked me to come away and have a chat.

Shortly after, the team disbanded to go home, since we had reached our decided finished time of 3:45PM. I was very encouraged by the large numbers of men who came up to me and quietly thanked me for sharing my piece and shook my hand and asked me to keep up the good work.

If only they understand, that it is not I that am good, but Christ who lives in me.

I must answer one objection that the church is the proper place for Christians to preach. Quite, the contrary, all Christians are commanded by their master Jesus, to preach the gospel to every creature, and teach them all things that he has commanded.

It is a common misconception, that the exercise of the Christian faith is bound to a church building. This is simply not so. The Christian religion is exercised most properly in obedience to Christ, through public preaching of the gospel. I quote the Lord Jesus from the bible:

“Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

“Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

“Matthew 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” {Emphasis mine}

So readership, I thank you for your prayers, and pray to God, that he will raise up more labourers for His work.

Eternally Christ’s,

For Christ and His Covenant,

For the glory of God,

Evangelism Report: 03/02/2008 Sunday Afternoon 1PM - 4PM
Beach Side, of Cavill Ave/The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise QLD

Thankyou to all those who came out to share the gospel of Christ, even though the police of late, have been taking away our freedom of speech.

I commend you for your bravery, for even the gentlest spirits will find they have powerful adversity, when they stand to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. And bravery is required, that men might turn from thier hardened ways of lying, stealing, raping, murder, hatred, lust, back-biting, and turn to the one living God who can change their hearts and desires for the glory of His great name, through the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary 2000 years ago.

Hard rain, and an uncertainty hung over us. We arrived and were drenched making our way to fellowship, and so quickly decided to break off to hand out gospel tracts, and planned to meet again. Keith pressed me to make a call regarding preaching, and I decided to give it a crack, hoping in God for good weather. Thanks be to God, we got it!

Standing to preach, a young man and his young lady friend held each other while he engaged me and asked questions. It is a pleasure to talk with so many polite, and easy going people on Surfers Paradise. There is always the odd few, who scream abuse for some unknown reason, or who belittle the preachers, but we must remain compassionate.

Why do some do this? It could well be that these same people may have been abused as children, by persons pretending to be christians, and so have intense dislike for those called by the name of Christ. For this reason, we are compelled by the love of Christ, to love these people and seek their betterment and the increase of their wealth.

Again there is a great many who have been decieved by ignorant teachers in High School, and lecturers at University, into thinking that christianity is not a viable intellectual option, but rather a distasteful thing, to be hated and ridiculed.. that christians might come into line with their way of thinking. From personal experience, this is a common attitude I encounter.

The only response I have found, is to treat each person with dignity, and teach them using reason, factual knowledge and logic, that the christian position (in reality), IS the only viable acceptable intellectual option when it comes to the big questions and answers in life.

It is sometimes difficult to treat another person who is insulting you, with compassion, but we are compelled to combat them with love and truth.. for the scriptures say and experience reveals, that men's minds are darkened, and they have been decieved. Therefore their attitudes and knowledge is all they have learned to know, and can only produce a defiant attitude, to the truth.. especially when the root cause of thier unbelief is gently exposed.. and it is always sin.

The one reason, a human being rejects the living God, is because he or she wants to rule thier own lives. They want to choose the amount of morality they will uphold, leaving room for thier particular sins. They don't want to be called out for what they are, and intensly dislike those who do so. Romans 1, 3, and John 3 reveal this clearly.

Our polite young man, reasoned that he was not concerned with the judgment of God, for he did not believe God existed. He went onto to explain that he believed evolution was true, and therefore there was no need for God. After a delightful discussion, the young man both acknowledged the existence of God, and that God ought to be angry at him for his sin.

After preaching the gospel he took a gospel tract, courtesy of Keith Rochford, and I am praying that God will grant him repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. Quite a few people were interested and stopped to listen, though not as many as normally.. and then Keith Rochford stepped up to preach.

keithrochfordKeith quoted scientist after scientist, who had called out the evolution theory as being baseless, and a fairy tale. He had a good discussion with some people who stopped to listen, and God was pleased to grant him a larger crowd than mine, for which I was very happy to see.

Keith asked the chap, who had stopped to dialogue with him, what proof he had for evolution. There was none to be had, which is to be expected.

We even had the pleasurable company, of two police officers who listened to Keith's gospel message, and we pray God grants them repentance toward God, and the Lord Jesus author's faith in thier hearts, they might one day see Him as he is, in heaven.

May your death be the result of being worn-out for Christ!

Thankyou to all my ones and ones of readers out there! I appreciate you all, and pray God uses you mightily for changing your communities into a place of right-living in Christ!

May the children be safe from terror,
May the people be safe in Christ
and may we be the ones walked-on, to get them there,

For Christ and His Covenant,

“For there is no one so great or mighty that he can avoid the misery that will rise up against him when he resists and strives against God” - John Calvin

Today, I was detained from evangelism momentarily by the instruction of my master: Jesus Christ. His wisdom was to send christians two at a time to a city to preach his message. I see the wisdom of this:

1) Christian A, can turn the other cheek when assaulted for the gospel's sake, but Christian B can defend his body and life.
2) Christian B, stands as a witness to the character, integrity and message of Christian A.
3) Christian B, serves as an encouragment and correcter to Christian A, when neccesary.

I waited from 1PM till 3PM, for someone to arrive, and Glen Dibben pastor of Australian and Filipino Bible Baptist Church, drove all the way from Caboolture to assist me as a second man. At 3PM I was able to stand up and declare the word of God. Five minutes in, I was dialoging with a nice lady seated across from me. At the tenth minute, two police officers had entered the fray, and commanded me to walk to the police station.

I was told inside, that people had made complaints against my preaching, that I had offended them. I was stunned since I had been there only ten minutes. I was ordered to leave the Cavill Ave business district for twelve hours, and not return until the end of that period, on threat of arrest for violating a police directive if I did not comply. I was not show the complaint.

A statement will be released shortly, but I pray you will beseech God that things change in Queensland, so the gospel is not hindered. We will be taking this to the C.M.C.

What shall become of those, who attempt to get between God and his elect whom he is reaching through the proclamation of the gospel? What shall thier experience be in this life, what shall there end be at the judgement seat of God, post-death? Something to consider.

What a miracle! My car normally overheats very fast (30mins on a hot day), because of its many problems. Holes in the engine where oil is coming out, radiator leaking, and the list goes on. God kept my car at a normal operating temperature for my two hour drive from Morayfield to Gold Coast. I still can't believe it was anything, but the providence of God. Hallelujah! :)

Since it was raining a LOT, I turned in to Nerang Baptist Church and visited David Lazenby, and also had the soldier pleasure of chatting with Tania Fuesel. Both these nice people used to serve frequently with me on the Gold Coast team, and are now much busier in their local church. It is sad to not see them reguarly, or to have thier service, but while evangelism goes in, a church has other roles that MUST be carried out. After a lovely get together, we parted company, and I drove to Surfers Paradise.

I had about 45 minutes to hand out tracts and chat to people, since I had no soldiers to team up with me for Open Air. I walked the area, handing out about twenty tracts, thankfully with next to no rejections :)

Then I met Dale. Dale is a skinny kiwi (islander/maori?), who is now a mormon of 12 months. We had a good chat, he didn't want to do the good test, but we discussed the gospel, and by God's grace was able to explain to him the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and give him some pointers to identify what the mormon church was. He took the CARM web address, and two tracts with my email. Lord willing I will get an email from him, if God converts him and pulls him out of that religion. Dale has a family and he has a born-again brother who must have been praying for him, like mad!

I got to hand out some more tracts, and then I had to head home.

Please pray for soldiers for the Surfers Paradise area, limited resources at the moment, but we press in anyway for our God is great, he has commanded we preach the gospel to every creature, and if God be for us, who can be against us! :)

I thank God for my big forehead, it protected my eyes from getting sunburt.

Seriously though today, was super sun shiny, and it meant not too many people were stopping to listen to my pleasantly annoying voice.

Keith Rocheford joined my today, which was a real pleasure, he is a super nice guy and an interesting street preacher. He preached on evolution, that thing that makes believing scientists feel like they have monkey breath.

I got to chat to one of Keith's hecklers. He was a dark-skinned fellow called Mohamed, and yes, you guessed it he was an ex-muslim. He was living life "the sin way" and was mixing relativism into his islamic beliefs and took a few pot shots at Jesus Christ the Son of God along the way during our conversation. I found him a nice chap, a little difficult to pin down but he did go through the whole gospel, with a very full explanation, and even why the Koran is not the book of God. Mohomed gave me his word he would read the bible, so I pray the Lord converts his soul, if it pleases Him. Please pray for William his mate also.

Four young girls in bikini's stopped to listen in our crowd, and I we went through the ten commandments. They quietened down after a while, and accepted bibles and tracts afterwards, which was thrilling!

I had one lady who wanted to know why Christ died, which I was very pleased to answer.

We didn't have a lot of people stop today.. but a lot of open hearts. Which is quite a bit different to the last twelve months of Open Air preaching has seen. I noticed a lady with a smirk on her face as I preached on the big dud (the big bang) and why christians have a rational logical basis for thier belief in Jesus Christ (creation to judgement day, and beyond).. I began preaching on death, and how it would reach all of us one day. I preached on how death could hit us at any minute, in a variety of different ways, and how 350 ppl have died on QLD roads in the year of 2007. I preached that death was the one valid reason we have, for striving to find out the truth about where we came from, so we would be certain what we would meet after death. That lady lost her smirk.

It was a great day. My car was overheating something terribly, but I trust God shall provide my needs.

If you are a christian reading this blog, please pray for the coming few weeks: that God will send labourers and resources into the harvest, just like Jesus commanded us to pray. Your prayers ought not to be in vain.

For the glory of He who said: "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." For JESUS CHRIST,

Oh and friends can I leave you with a thought: "Don't worry if evangelising will cost you something, worry if you are in rebellion to Christ's command, get right with Christ, your days are numbered by God. If you die in your sin, then all you have to look forward to is the fiery judgement of an angry God. John 3:38"

Adversity has a funny way of sharpening your mind for the task at hand. I just watched a TV show called War Lords. It commented on how after Pearl Harbour was attacked, that President Roosevelt became very clear in his determination to see his nation protected from the Nazi and Japanese war forces. Previously he appeared to be vague and not wanting to go to war, but in one day his resolve had changed.

Today was our first week anniversary, since getting arrested by some angry QLD policemen. I got up prepared to preach in first in case they came back, and God used it to get glory for Himself.

A reasonably large crowd came in, and by God's grace alone I was able to preach for a very long time, answering many questions. I can't remember everything that went down, but a great portion of the dialogue with the intrigued crowd was over evolution and its claim to be truth.

I made some mistakes, which my collegue Josh Williamson corrected me afterwards. For which I am very appreciative. The wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

I had made the comment that Genesis only makes allowance for incest as the solution to "Where Cain got his wife".. but that if one believed the big bang and evolution of the species.. then beastiality was the actuallity for them. The problem was that the heckler asked me if we came from beastiality, to which I responded, yes. Of course I didn't even notice that I had mishead his question. The crowd seemed lightly humoured, but the truth seemed to have sunk down deep in thier eyes.

It was a good day, and we had Glen Dibben (pastor of Australia and Filipino Bible Baptist Church, MORAYFIELD) visiting and also David Lazenby from Nerang Baptist Church. We enjoyed thier company, and since the weather was bad, we headed for cover and fellowshipped the afternoon in.

Please pray that God will bring Surfers Paradise to life, and that it might become a place of holiness where his name is known.

To God by the glory,

josh mitchell
