Now you might say "But God is Love!" and that is true, and because God is love, He must hate sin and punish sin. But God is also kind, and loving towards those who would come unto repentance.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. - Romans 5:6
Because of the sin you committed you deserve to die and spend eternity in hell (Romans 6:23). But God in His kindness provided a way of escape, and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ.
